The teeth of the king of Africa - instruments of death. They use them to kill prey, and to fight rivals. Nguvu, pictured here the morning of his death, was a solitary male ruling in a world of coalitions and danger. He was formidable and confident, brave and bold, and he was at his prime when he confidently marched into the territory of the infamous Birmingham brothers. The morning of this photo was his last: that evening he met his end in a battle with the Birmingham brothers. Nobody knows why he marched so confidently to his death.

Materials

All archival quality prints are printed on Hahnemühle Bamboo paper, which contains 90% bamboo fibres and only 10% cotton, making it an environmentally friendly choice for photographic prints.
